I know this subject has been beat to death but I used the search and could not find what I was looking for. I like everyone else, am looking for brighter fog lights. I have Sylvania Silverstars in my headlights and I am happy with those for now. I have regular Sylvania 886 bulbs in my fog lights now so they are already upgraded to 50w instead of the stock 896 bulb that are rated at 37.5w I wish Sylvania made a silverstar for the 896 or 886 but they do not. It does not look like Phillips makes a high performance bulb for the 896 or 886 either.

Other than running the $100+ kit from CorvetteHid.com, What are some of my other options? Amazon.com has a set of high performance 886 but I have never heard of the streetglow brand. http://www.amazon.com/StreetGlow-H88...9356991&sr=8-1

Another option I have seen is the L.E.D. models but I'm not sure how much more light they would put out over regular 886s

The most hopeful option Ive seen is some of the kits on ebay. One of the things im curious about is the kits on fleabay look like they use a straight shaped bulb whereas the 896 and 886 are a 90 degree angle. I know the ballasts in this kit probably do not have the ultra slim ballasts but would they work none the less? Take a look.

That price seems almost too good to be true.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Trying to keep this under $50 if possible.

I used one of the "slim balast 880" off of ebay. Worked great and real happy with it.
Only difference was that it was a straight plug vs a 90 degree plug.

The max light output you can currently get from an LED fog light bulb is 205 lumens. They look really bright, but the actual light output is underwhelming. There are some specialty LEDs good for around 400 lumens, but you probably won't be able to buy those yet. If night visibility is the goal, I would focus on better headlights and possibly HID if you want the full daylight experience.

Excellent topic and thread.

Today, I saw both my clear fog lights are out. My local dealer said The clear lens next to the front turn signals are supposed to be a non lighted area ... However, from reading here and other areas, this should be a lighted area!

That said, what is the recommended replacement bulb?

Sylvania 886 bulbs ... ?

THANKS ALL

Anybody ....... ????
Calm down, dude ...

From the original poster -

I did a Google search for "automotive bulbs", and found this easy link ...

http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/LampReplacementGuide/AutoLRG-Results.htm

And the winner is ... the 896 as a stock replacement bulb.
