LT, God I love your name nomenclature. At it makes a lot of sense, too. I sincerely hope that Chevy reads these lines also. You should/could be the strategic developer for Corvette. This makes more sense than anything I have ever read about this anywhere. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The Germans, as usual regarding American cars, are just re-reporting the C&D story (I already posted here) about the eRay which would start with the [ZR1?] 800 HP TT DOHC V8 + ~200HP front electric motor for on demand pull. The algorithm controlling the front electric motor will be a doosey.
My SWAG at naming models:
Base Performance = 500 HP OHV V8 LT-derived = Zora
Performance level 2 = 600+ HP DOHC V8 = [Zora] Z06
Performance level 3 = 800 HP DOHC TT V8 = [Zora] ZR1
Performance level 4 = 1,000 HP DOHC TT V8 + ~200 HP elecric motor driving front wheels = eRay
Because the C7 and the C8 will be sold side by side for at least a year, there must be some unique naming which is why I don't think the "Sting Ray" name will be used on the C8 - at least initially and why I think that initially we might see the name 'Zora Z06' be used.
BTW, none of those renderings is correct - at least non in the front or the rear. We've already seen the fascias and the CAD drawings have given us enough peeks to know these renderings just are not close.
