Define "normal".

If you mean stock, no, they are not. Not unheard of to find a splice added along the way either. :thumbsup:

 

Didn't know A/C lines could be Spliced. Will the system have a tough time holding a charge?

 

Common splice. These are available at the parts houses and have the safety locks on them to keep the hoses on. Def not the best way to solve a problem but a common compromise. It's a PO's way to avoid replacing hoses and could've been a way to adapt a different compressor etc.... Of course they can leak, especially 134a but actually make an ok connection.
