Since 1973 in all of the years of the 24 hr racing at Daytona just one year 2000 did a dodge win. And yes it was a viper gts-r.
It's because cars have to run about 3000 miles in the 24 Hours races. Mopars just run 1/4 mile at a time. It would take forever.:D

On the first page of this thread are some pictures of a 400 with the old BB bell housing. This came out of and is going back into a 1968 Buick Wildcat land yacht. The white ford truck we have with the caddy 500 motor has the same BB bell housing 400. Both motor and trans came out of an equally large and slow early 70's Cadillac deville.

I always thought the th400 was a truck transmission myself meant for heavy loads.

You Bought a Brand New 1969 Charger right out of the Corp.
Then became a Hippie for 10-15 years.
Nooooo, I was a Hippie before the Corps. Dobie Gillis and Maynard G. Krebbs were my heroes. I still like Peter, Paul and Mary. They looked like Hippies. Flower children, burn the bras and nice songs compared to this new cRAP. We were a happy sort. Twist one up, grab a guitar and play some folk music. Works for me.

And what does a TH 400 go into nowadays?
Everything meant for serious Race Wins Madam.
Even the single and Twin Turbo LS Guys here in Illinois use a Turbo 400 transmission.
A built 4L80E is 2nd pick.
Grumpy has most of the info for 4L80e overdrive on his site.
We solved the Torque converter durability issue with them a few months back on his site.
COAN Racing.
A 496 BBC Race build in a 1967 Camaro. Guy is from Indiana not far from me.
Real close to cracking 10s 1/4 mile. Just 2 tenths away.
All Motor no power adder.
Need a gear change. 3.73 gears now.

4L80E is a Turbo 400 with overdrive.
