Good evening my brothers.

My heads arrived the other week from LG Motorsports and will be installed in a few days.

I decided to inspect my AFR heads thoroughly after reading a thread about Patriot heads on the other foruml. (bought through LG Motorsports, the heads/cam package)

I am greatly concerned about these "chips / nicks" on the heads internally (please forgive my mechanical ignorance) I have attached pics and a video to show first hand.

These nicks are in identical spots on both heads. Some "columns" do not have them but the ones on the far right on both heads do.

Is this a manufacturing defect that I should be concerned about? Will it affect air flow/durability/longivity...etc? should I send them back an get new heads....input is greatly appreciated!

Issue has been addressed and resolved by Tony @ AFR. Thanks Tony!

Casting flaws

Yes I would send them back.
The molds did not fill properly when the heads were cast. This won't hurt the flow but that is an area that will be stressed (rocker arm bosses) and could cause a failure in the valve train. If the metal has porosity below the boss area then this would further the possibility of failure. If it were my money I would contact AFR or the company you bought them from and demand a set that are not compromised as these.

Good luck and be demanding, it's your money!
