I installed a new Powermaster 110 amp alternator early this year. Everything was fine until mid August. About then my volt gauge suddenly jumped to near 16v at cruise:huh:

Being worried about maybe frying something, I contacted Powermaster amd they OK'd sending it back under warranty. In the meantime I reinstalled the old 42 amp unit which barely kept the battery charged because of the Spal fans.

Anyway, today I finally received the Powermaster back and it reads 13.99 at idle. After the engine warmed up a bit I ran it to 2000 engine rpm and the voltage stayed right at 13.99.

WTF?:( It's supposed to read 14.4 +/- .1.

Well, I'm using it. But.......my aternators in the past have always read about 14.2-5. And material I've read says they should be outputing those numbers.

The 95 reads 14.6 and the T-Bird says 14.4

Maybe I'm over the anal edge, I dunno.
