So, tonight I acquired my second speeding ticket while trying to make it to my grandmothers house for an emergency. This is the second ticket in around 4 weeks. I have never had this much of a problem with getting pulled over. The first ticket I was the only car on the road and the cop came across an intersection and I had to slam on my brakes because I thought it was a regular car pulling out in front of me. In which he followed me a good ways tailgating me and handed out a ticket for going 60 in a 45. And tonight I passed a state trooper and looked back and he had yet to hit his lights. I go around a curve and see a car following me at a fast rate of speed. He follows me till he gets behind me over a mile down the road and hits his lights. I pull over and explain to him why I was running 70 down a hill in a 55. Its a country road that is long. While he proceeds to tell me he had to chase me down running up to 90-120. So, now I am stuck with two tickets where cops went out of their way just to give. I understand I was speeding, but I was not endangering anyone. These locations they pulled me over at are out of the city limits somewhat. I am ready to find a nice radar detector to end this debt collection bs. I know this is not for public safety, but for state revenue. So guys, do you have any suggestion on a model?

I haven't used my detector in years now (I still have my older metal encased Escort from way back before they went to the cheapier/plastic models they have now) but if I were buying one today it would ONLY be a Valentine One.

My Escort Passport 9500ix has saved me many times. However, the V1 seems it be the most popular choice. I chose the Passport because there was a special for $65 cheaper than the V1 including mounting bracket and visor cord. I'm a cheap ass.

If the the cops are NOT using laser, V1 hands down. Mine is 9+ yrs old and I have been saved 100s of times.

Laser? Blinder2 seems to be one of the top laser jammers out there.

btw/fwi, a cop does NOT need a radar gun to give a speeding ticket! They are trained to visually estimate a mph..

The best detector, is not a detector at all! I am fortunate enough to know a few ppl..

have had a V1 for years and like the fact that V1 offers an upgrade program although it has been a few years since any updates have come out.

That being said if you are by yourself on a road chances are a LEO is going to use instant on and a radar detector is not going to work. Being alert is still probably the best defense.

passport 8500 has never let me down, but the first rule in speeding is never speed unless their is a car in view in front of you, that way you get the instant on signal, and never speed when the car in front of you reaches the on coming car at night when you cant tell whats coming:thumbsup:

My belltronics 995 has gone off (detected) radar before all of my friends V-1. But nothing will protect you against instant unless you have a jammer.

Thanks for the replies. Any good jammers to stop their signals? I understand I was speeding, but these guys went out of their way to give me a ticket. I was no joke the only car on the stretch. Running a little over is one thing, but endangering myself and others... I think not.

The name of the game is revenue generation in these hard economic times city's and states get easy money from tickets to help the treasury's.
go to court and speak with the prosicuter before you plead to the judge agree to a non-moving violation plea instead of fighting it, might be more of a fine but no points or ins surcharge if your state uses them.

And the Val1 is the way to go
