Are bolt on mods worth it as an investment?

Tick Tock, Tick Tock... just waiting to take delivery on my '07 Coupe :partyon:

In the meantime, I find myself in a position I'm sure many of you have been in. I spend all my free time perusing the net for aftermarket toys; so I pose this question to you, friends... is it really worth it to invest in bolt on aftermarket accessories for the C6 (Z51, 3LT Pckg)?

Specifically, I was considering an Air Intake, Exhaust System (headers back), Throttle Body, short throw shifter, etc... Nothing big like forced induction, just the small time stuff.

Any advice y'all can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Mods should never be considered investments IMO.

Are they worth it to me personally? I do not regret building my dream car:thumbsup:

I agree. Invest in bonds. Build your dream car. Each little change makes it more uniquely yours. Corvettes are for enjoying, there are better investments.
I have your car, 2007, C6, MZ6, 3LT, LMB.

I think the mods really make the car run right, here is what I have
so far:

- Ported TB and Intake
- Callaway Honker cold air intake

The car really breathes better, you nail the throttle now and it
comes alive, less hesitation.

I will have a tune in a week, not planning to dyno it anytime soon,
as all I care about is how it drives.

I put the Honker on today, it really makes a difference at speed on
the highway, around town I didn't feel much (SOTP).

So I guess the admin changed the title to my post... I never intended for it to sound like bolt on mods were 'investments' rather just 'fun boosters'. Sorry for the misunderstanding :)

That was me that changed your post. I framed the question in your post into your title to increase your responses. - Midnite

I have a friend that has much more money than I have but he will not mod a car. He loves my car but likes his cars the way they come from the Mfg.

It is personal preference.
It's nice when you can add the "extras" to your car, I think it personalizes it for sure.

Thanks, Midnite! I appreciate it

I was just a little confused... I'm still a newbie on this site. Thank you for the advice too... I'm really torn as far as what to do

I chose to drive it for awhile to get used to the stock awesomeness (even including the CAGS 'feature') before I started increasing its awesomeness w/ bolt-ons. Didn't take too long to get a good feel for it as-stock. Now I REALLY appreciate my mods and can better assess their value and performance increase. Love it, love it, love it as configured now, highly recommend my combo, and can't wait to finish up the facelift w/ a Formato tune in a couple weeks!
I agree Im going to wait a year and start modding when the car feels slow, that way after mods its like you have a whole new car! What previous cars have you owned?
i like modding as soon as i get a car, especially exhaust. to me there is nothing worst than have a 400hp producing about as much decibals as a minivan. but thats me.

not to mention the attention you get from a modded car.

my goal is to beat slightly modded z06's. the look on their face would be priceless
I have been back and forth on whether or not to mod my C6, or just put the money into a new Z06.
When I bought my Vette it was a "Corvette by Chevrolet"
Now, she is my "Black Widow" or at least on her way there :D

header, intake, exhaust all good mods for new car. cags is a must. these wont void warranty. i couldn't stop and went with procharger but guess who blew the warranty...um me...lol

I could personally never leave my Vette stock, although I don't have much done to her, I have a few things to make it my own.
Personally, all the bolt ons you will add will only help the "total" picture. If you add all the bolt ons immaginable, don't expect much, unless you want to set yourself up for disappointment. Add a big power adder, then add bolt ons. If you don't plan on doing that much, just save up for a big power adder, like a supercharger and call it quits. You will get more power from a supercharger by far than all the piddly bolt ons you will waste money on, than when you decide to stop playing around......and you will, you will buy the supercharger and have to sell all of your *BS* air intake mods, and lose money. Just save is you want something really good, but if you want something small/something that won't add bigtime power just do small stuff. I wish someone would have told me that before I wasted a ton of money.

hmmm... i hadn't thought about that, I might just sit on the money for a little while then. I mean hell, its still a Corvette, right?
actually now that i think of it .....since GM is now coming out with a new motor every year by the time you save up for mods the 25 extra hp you might put on will be about 400 hp behind the muscle war
