C4 auto-X tranmission size of torque converter

I autocros the old 84 and time attack on a larger 2.5 mile course. I am having the automatic trans rebuilt. One shop says go with a smaller -10 -9 inch converter the other shop say go with the stock convert. Any opinions?

With no knowledge here to back me up I would THINK that the smaller converter would be the right play just because your not wanting stall and you are wanting to make your rotating mass smaller.
Again I am not a trans guy but the logic makes sense.

wisconsin, I'm not sure about your set-up but keep in mind that going w/ a smaller converter means less trans fluid. Go w/ a deeper pan and/or add a large trans cooler to give you more or the same amount of trans fluid back. You may have it already, I dunno. Just thought I'd suggest it.
