I'm sure many of you have experienced the same problem. However, keep in mind that until yesterday, I haven't even driven the shiny new baby. My new C6 arrived several weeks ago. Because of the terrible weather up north, I had it delivered to the house. For weeks I've been placing coat after coat of polish to make it look just right. Finally a break in the weather. I contacted my insurance company yesterday, placed the coverage back on the car, ran home from work to take her for a spin. Nervously I pulled out of the garage......slowly driving down the alley......found my first stretch of open road.....and took off......

Two block from the house............

Just as I reach 55.................

a bird crapped all over the car.......from bumper to bumper.......back to the house to clean her up.
and that was the end of my first ride.

But is it not part of the joy in owning a vette, detailing it? By the way, you mentioned the many coats of polish, do not forget the final step WAX.

I can sympathize with you on the weather, as I grew up in Chicago. In Florida, I can drive mine year round.

Bird experience

I know the feeling, quite awhile ago, the wife & I were traveling in southern BC (Canada) in our 63 Vette rdstr on a hot day -top down ,tunes on. Suddenly splat a big load of bird sh-t hit windshield right in front of my wife & ran up the windshield. A little splattered on the interior of the car but I couldn't beleive how much of it there was. Split second would have hit wife(better than hitting me) :thud:
