Brake Template

OK guys. It has to be somewhere. I've looked all over the net and this forum and can't find it. I want the brake caliper template to convert C5 brakes to a C4. I have a 89 that needs updating. The company that I work for has a hugh machine shop and I can get the brackets made real quick. I'm a do it your self kind of person. Sure I could spend the money and buy the brackets but what fun would that be.

Can someone please send me or point me in the right direction?:D :thud:

thats GREAT! and I appreciate the info, but IVE got two questions

(1) does anyone have the similar info for the conversion plate for the 1985???
IF so,....PLEASE, please, POST IT

(2) TexasDanny? or anyone else?

would you be willing to knock off a couple extra copies???
or do you know a source for those adapter plates at a reasonable cost??
( BTW...you do realize that youll need a decent quality aluminum with some strenght/hardness too it as those plates are under stress when you stomp on the brakes at high speeds)

and what would be the price? and time frame as I can use BOTH the 1996 and 1985 VERSIONS of those plate/adapters to upgrade my corvettes

Brakes

Don't know what the cost will be, but I can find out. I could get some knocked off one week end if the bridgeport is free. Timing is everything around here. I'm in the Pipeline Utility industry suppling guidance services world wide. We build the hole openers and cutters (biggest is 72 inches wide).

The reason that I'm building my own is partly cost and the fact that I hate paying for something that I can do myself. Check out my web site on what else I'm building www.ltw.net .

I'm going to make the adapters out of 4140 or 4150 steel, the weight is not issue, I wanted strength.

I'll try to get some cost by end of week.
GREAT! ID surely prefer steel, Id feel a whole lot safer , let us know if you can build a few and costs and if someone can post more info on the brake upgrade please do so.

I've seen these brackets for sale on another forum for about $100 - $125.00 a pair.
Just talked to the machine shop. Getting the picture drawn in Auto Cad today. If someone allready has it then that would make it quicker. We have a lot of drop 4140 steel that is scrap that I can have. So, I should be able to make about 10 sets for $100 each set. I'll have to spend some time over the week end at the shop helping but I want to learn how to run the CNC machine.

Just think of all the stuff I could make if I new how to run it. They let me play on the old bridgeport and manual lathe from time to time. I've made several items for my Hummer.

I'll keep everone updated here.
Brake upgrade

I just joined the forum today. I'm in process of upgrading my 89 convertable with a LS1 engine and want (need) to upgrade the brakes at the same time. I'm interested in a set of the C5 to C4 brackets if they become available.

You should post your interest in the parts for sale section.

I have a set I can send you for 125.00 with bolts, and shipping included.
No problem.
