Nice work. :partyon:

Did you replace your old and probably ballooning brake lines at the same time? Do you have any plans to replace there rear clothes-pin calipers and convert the parking brake? I've been saying I'd do this on my '87 for yeeeears and never have. :(

I replaced all of the Brake Lines when I did the Coilover mod back in May, see sig, I also put Speedbleeders on all Calipers too.

I will have to study the rear Caliper retrofit, they look hoaky now that I have the C5 brakes on the front.

I'm actually thinking of converting TO the caliper parking brake. It gives more rotor options.

I know, it has been done many times before, just wanted to document the lower cost for parts.

Rock Auto C5 Rotors = $50 shipped ($20.99 each)
14x2 mm Bolts (Dominic) = $10.00
C5 Calipers, brackets & PAds = $190 shipped

Conversion brackets made by me = $0 See JeffVette for brackets you can buy

Since these are NOT Z06 Calipers, I have to paint them the color of my choice

That is awesome...I've done sportbike brake upgrades to my Cruiser Bike but nothing on a car...

Did you order everything from Rock Auto or did different things come from different places???

What were the Part #'s??

Got the 97-04 calipers from a C5 forum, but you can pick them up new or used easily.

Rock Auto rotor #'s are 397-56701 & 397-56700, left and right are required.

I can email you a print for the mount bracket and you can make it or you can buy them too from JeffVette as noted on the first post.

Here is a set new.

Thanks...I wasn't sure what to order as the pics of calipers on the parts sites are either generic or not what I'm looking for...My local NAPA guys couldn't come up with a pic for me either...I tend to drive them crazy some days, but they are good sports about it...

I would love to have the print to make my own brackets...will it tell me what gauge/type metal to use? I've made a few brackets for my MC accessories but brakes on a car are way different from what I'm used to, so if I have something to work from that would be cool

Thanks again:thumbsup:

Well,I cant explain it but there is no PM< from me in my SENT box either, so you are not going crazy, maybe I am losing it.

Anyway, I sent you a print, the early bracket is the easiest bracket to make, just use Cold Rolled Steel, CRS,,,,,,,,,, 9-mm is .354" thick so you can machine down a piece of 3/8" thick easily.

Thank you for the print, link, and all the help...it will make this switch much easier...:partyon:

Dang, one more question....this bracket replaces the need for the C5 bracket or is it used in conjunction with the C5 bracket...

I have some pics posted as well if you need to look at a few more shots... it is real easy to do when you tear everything apart and look.

where did you get your calipers that cheap? the least i can find them is on eBay for $240 shipped (however, those are the z06 red ones, but i really dont care plus they dont comep with brackets). also, the adapter brackets look pretty simple. is it really as simple as some flat bar, four holes and tap two of them?

I got similar deal on my C5 brakes, you just have to keep your eyes open on some of the different forums classifieds sections, ebay, and craigslist. You can also try to find some used ones as well.
