I have a 2000 coupe and the latch on the console door is hard to open, you have to really pull on the door to open it and kind of close it hard for it to close all the way. Is that the way they are or should I maybe change the latch.

See if you can adjust the retaining tabs, if not replace it:

Remove the console from the vehicle.
Depress the console latch plate retaining tabs and remove the latch plate.

I removed the latch already and tried to lube it up, but that did not help, and there does not seem to be any adjustment. Is it supposed to be this hard to work?

There is no button to depress. It works like a door latch, it closes when you push the console door closed, and it opens when you pull up on the console door. Thanks.

On mine you just have to pull it towards you(drivers side), then lift and it goes up easy that way...if not it's kinda hard.
