Hi there at DC!

Here some more facts about the green monster:

The monster was built as a GT3 race car by Doug Rippie Motorsports, Minnesota for a european customer.

See details:
http://www.dougrippie.com/drm/gt3.htm

As you see, the green monster is nothing else than a privately (according to the GT3 rules) build C5R with genuine C5R body, with plain bottom and diffusor at the back for maximum downforce (They even lead the exhaust thru the inside to get an aerodynamic plain bottom - see the exhaust at the first pic).
So - beeing a pure streetracer - the wing is mandatory, the discussion about it is needless.

I made these photos in y2k at the Salzburgring, Austria, where the green monster made the quartermile in 10.2s. This is unbelievable, because its a streetracer with incredible long 1st gear! (I made 13.2s with a slightly modified torch-red 99 automatic coupe I owned then)

The green monster is serviced and supervised in europe by Heinz Roth, Zurich, the european partner of Doug Rippie and a friend of mine. Heinz Roth is to my opinion the leading european Corvette specialist.

See his homepage, especially his race car projects:

By the way: If you want to have some german text translated, feel free to contact me, I will do my best, at least I'm far better than any translation software!

OK this was my first thread, tell me if you liked it and if you are interested in the german and suisse Corvette scene I can give you some more info.

Thanks for that GREAT post!

I have to ask you.... C5R parts aren't readily available... are they? What happens if you damage the body of the car?

Also, 10.2 quarter mile time?! That is fantastic for a car geared for road racing!

Any pics under the hood? How do the air inlets plumb to the intake?

Guten tag, mein Herr, und willkommen.

Ihr Englisch ist ausgezeichnet. Bitte, erlauben Sie mir auszutauschen.

Wo wohnen Sie?

Bis spater,

Ray

The only word I understood was "Ray".

Thanx for the friendly replies.

To Patrick:
I don' t know how they managed to get the C5R body parts, it seems that Doug Rippie has good connections to the Corvette racingteam.
Doug Rippie has developed doubleside custom intakes which match these inlets. You can see photos about that and many more details about frame, chassis, brakes if you use the 1st link I provided in my original post.

To Ray:
Very nice to get that german answer. I know Gelnhausen very good, I have relatives nearby.

I live in northern Bavaria, here is my complete address:

The Avatar (is it called avatar?) does not show my Ducati, it is a prototype which was introduced some days ago at the Tokio Motor Show. They call it Sportclassic 1000 PaulSmart, remembering the great pilot which won the 200 miles of Imola in 1972.

It's not sure if they'll build it, but if so I'll get one!

In the moment I have a Monster 900ie and I'm building up a 450 Desmo single Silver Shotgun. Maybe in march next year I can show you photos of that supersweet single. My first bike was a yellow 250 Desmo single back in 1974, when I got my driving licence and since then I had quite a few Ducs.

My German is a little rusty but the way it was written it looked to be like this:

Good day and welcome my gentleman. Your English is excellent. Please, you permit to exchange me. The green monsters is a beautiful car. It is very impressive. Appreciate you sharing the information(?). Please excuse me, but my German is not very good. It is many years been since I spoke German. I lived in Germany for two years. In a village called Gelhausen, close of the city of Fulda. Where do you live?

Am I close Ray?

Pretty damn close. "Gentleman" should be "sir", and "Bis Spater" is an idiom for "until later".

But all in all quite impresssive.
