Speed = Engine Speed (Rev/minute) x Gear Ratio x Differential Ratio x Tire Circumference (PI x OD)

Speed = 6500 (rev/min) x (60min/hr) x (1/2.97) x (1/3.42) x (3.14159 x (19in + 2 x (.35 x 285mm x 1in/25.4mm)) x (1ft/12in) x (1mile/5280ft))

Speed = 51.125 mph

The Z51 can't reach 60mph as shown by my calculation. Its probably even slower since there are other factors not accounted for such as tire deflection, drag and other ineffeciency.

Base vette wasn't meant to reach 60 in first. The Z06 can though...:thumbsup:

Z51 has MN6

You have to damn near red line the Z06 to hit 60mph and with a 7k red line
on the Z06 and less than that red line on coupe or conv., they can't get
there.

I would think that an '05 Z51 with an A4 would be more likely to get there than a manual because of the 3.15 gearing. The most likely candidate would be an '05 FE1 or F55 with an A4 and 2.73 rear gears.:D

Perhaps a naive question, but who really wants to reach 60 mph in first gear???? :cool:
It turns out faster 0-60 times.:thumbsup: Which gives the car better publicity from magazines.

Not being into drag racing, I'm having a hard time grasping the concept here: are you saying that if you have to shift on the way to 60mph that automatically means your 0-60 time will be less than in a car that doesn't require shifting in that range? Seems like a really good driver could negate this aspect if it indeed is a player in the manual C6 Z51's 0-60 MPH performance. Someone please enlighten me!!:huh:

It's not automatic but your chances of being faster are better. Having to
shift is got to cost a tiny bit of time.

yes, having to shift on the way to 60 will slow down the 0-60 time because if u have to shift it dissengages the engine from the rear wheels while the clutch is depressed, and i dont think anybody would be able to shift the car fast enough with the risk of breaking something..

So... what speed will it reach in second gear?

Speeds for the Z06 per Road & Track:

1st gear = 61 mph @ 7000 rpm
2nd gear = 91 mph @ 7000 rpm
3rd gear = 125 mph @ 7000 rpm
4th gear = 162 mph @ 7000 rpm
5th gear = 198 mph @ 6300 rpm
6th gear = N/A

all above #'s done with 3.42 Final Drive Ratio.

I don't know what the Z51 would do, I think transmission ratio's same,
if 3.42 rear gear used, you could calculate down to your red line rpm and
get a general idea maybe.

in dragracing its 60foot time not 0-60 time,z51 has different trans ratios
than the mn6 hence its called mz6, FROM THE BUILD SHEET---- rpo code KNP - TRANSMISSION OIL COOLING SYSTEM KPS - COOLER OIL, ENGINE
K63 - 110 AMP GENERATOR LS2 - 6.0 LITER SFI V8 - 400 HP
MN6 - 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION MZ6 - 6 SPD MANUAL TRANSMISSION ETC ETC

All of the z06 tests that the magazines have done thus far have been wildly different. Car and Driver churned out a 3.4 second 0-60 time while one of the European magazines came up with a 4.2. If in doubt of the 3.4 number, check it up yourself; its in the December 2005 issue of C&D. This has got to be partly due to different driving styles of the testers. The Euro mag obviously shifted before 60 mph while Car and Driver prolly bounced the Z off the redline getting their number. Quote, "The Vette, for example, can reach 60 mph in first gear, whereas the Viper must use up a time-consuming gearshift." If the Viper were to have a higher revving engine, it would no doubt be able to rip off a sub-3.5 sec 0-60 time.

Does anyone have those numbers for the regular C6? (with and without z51)
