To give you an idea the P1 and P2 class are the sports racer cars of the old days, these vehicles are also known as prototypes. They are not based on any production vehicle but built from the ground up race cars. The P1 class is the big daddy at Le Mans, they are around 2,000 pounds and 600-700BHP. The P2 class was made more for private teams meaning they are cheaper to run in this class. They are lighter and less powerful then the P1 cars, at twisty tracks P2 cars can actually beat P1 cars but at higher speed tracks the P2 cars get dusted. You guys will have to forgive me for my ignorance. I'm a newbie when it comes to le mans. Can someone tell me what the difference is between P1, P2, GT1, and GT2? Do they compete against everyone, or only the vehicles in their class??
I wouldnt say most likely, Corvette racing has lost to Oreca the only time they raced them at Le Mans.......To sum it up, Corvette Racing will most likely win their class but finish above 13th place overall.
