When my dad first took his Vette to AZ he couldn't find Mobil-1 anywhere. I have used castrol GTX in many of my older cars with great results. I told him to check for castrol Syntec. He called the company and left a message on their customer service line. To my great surprise the next day he got a phone call from Castrol saying that Syntec didn't offer the protection of Mobil-1 or standards that GM had in place for that engine and not to use it. Blew me away.

They did mention though, that they were working on getting a new product approved and should be on the shelf with-in a year or so (at the time, several years ago). That was what is now known as Castrol Edge.

:thumbsup: To a stand up company. I use Edge all the time in my Gto and so far, so good.

I always have my oil changes done at the dealer where I bought the car. In Canada most GM dealers have switched to using Castrol products. I was very hesitant to switch away from Mobile 1 the last time I was in for a change. But like you I have used Castrol GTX in trucks and cars for years and have found it to be awesome. So now I am using Castrol Edge Full Synthetic (dealer installed) and it seems great!
