I bought a stock replacement vacuum advance a while back. The numbers on it match my stock can exactly. It is not an adjustable type.

I decided not to use it when I did the rebuild because it didn't give the right response when hooked up to the vac pump. The stock can advances at 6/7hg and all 12 degrees are in by 12hg...this is what is spec'd for this can. The replacement can doesn't start to advance until 15hg and isn't all in untill around 20/22hg.

Is there anything I can do to get the replacment to work in the correct range? Or is it trash?

And yes Jeff, I know, don't screw with the dist since it is operating quite well right now:smack

There is nothing you can do with that one.

What is your vacuum? Does it have a cam and low vacuum?
What type of Dizzy is it?
What # can are you talking about?

I need input.

Stock cam...17hg at 700rpm idle..
Stock points dist...454/390
Vacuum advance stampings...MS, 360, 12.

My stock unit operates just fine...if this replacment can't be "fixed"...I'm probably just going to **** can it.
