Why couldn't you.
The Bose system in the C4 uses 1ohm speakers in an interesting configuration.. I did try to connect the RCAs off my radio directly to the bose amps/speakers, there was a ton of noise. you definitely need the adapter

It also depends on the type of head unit. My JVC for example plays throught the Bose without any problems or adapter, I've had it in this config for the last three years.

Wasn't really a new deck I pulled it from my Mercedes before I sold it and the Bose head unit didn't work at all.

Umm what is the point of getting a new deck if the speakers are still the crappy bose?
I dont think the speakers in my 85 are crappy but i have had some problems with the back ones aka the amp 4 each back speaker needing to be replaced but hey what you going to do the car is 18 years old.
