Big wins for the conservative party

After leading two minority Conservative governments, Prime Minister Harper has been given what he wanted -- a majority.
Yesterday's election saw the Tories grab 167 seats -- 12 more than they need for a majority.
A jubilant Harper told cheering supporters that Canadians can turn the page on the uncertainty of the past seven years, and “focus on building a great future.”
Prime Minister Harper says he's grateful, deeply honoured, and humbled by what he calls the “decisive endorsement of so many Canadians.”
Harper pledged to govern in the best interests of all Canadians, including those who did not vote for his Tories.
He says his first priority is to implement the budget tabled on March 22, just a couple of days before his last government was defeated.
The New Democrats will be the official opposition in the coming parliament after grabbing 102 seats -- more than double their previous high.
The Liberals suffered their worst-ever election showing, winning 34 seats.
A glum Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff faces the media in Toronto this morning to talk about his status.
Only four seats were won by the Bloc Quebecois, prompting Gilles Duceppe to resign as that party's leader.
And, Green Leader Elizabeth May has become her party's first-ever MP.
May has a news conference scheduled for today at 2 p-m ET.
