This is almost embarrassing. I jacked up the Vette, released the fuel pressure and took of the fuel filter shield and bracket for what I expected to be a 10 min job and couldn't get the filter off. I had two open end wrenches but it wouldn't budge. Granted that filter has been there 2 or 3 years...how do I get it off?

You will need line wrenches. These wrenches have a six point jaw with an opening just large enough to slip over the fuel line.:thumbsup:

Use a torch and run like hell :laughing:


Soak it with some PB Blaster for a while and it should free up :thumbsup:

Line wrenches will certainly help but it just takes some muscle and some paticence. Using a penetrating oil will really help as well.

I had a similar problem when taking the filter off my '86. With line wrenches and some PB Blaster penetrating oil it came off in 10mins. Just don't get any of the PB Blaster on paint. It'll ruin the finish.

I never used it on the fuel line but sounds like a good idea. I had to use gorilla strength to get those lines off the filter.
