Does anyone know of a good painter in Mo. who can clear a set of polished Z rims?
A freind of mine had his wheels fully polished due to a horrible detail from the dealer. They burned through the clearcoat in an area 2"X5".
Very long story short, dealer said it could have been there before purchase (used) and told him there is nothing they would do for him.
He found a painter who said he could do it and recommended a shop to have them polished out. A 2nd shop had to finish as the 1st shop couldn't get it right. After several inspections by the painter and numerous touch ups (4 months), the painter says his PPG supplier says there is a new "step" to do in prep. Now the painter doesn't want to shoot them because he is unsure as to how they will turn out. He is affraid they will yellow. The kicker is that my buddy was talked into doing the polish/clear by the painter because he assured him he could do it.
Now my buddy cannot find a painter here in Springfield that is willing to clear the wheels and is thinking of purchasing a brand new set of factory Z16 wheels to go back on his Comm. Z.
I stopped by the other day and this is how she's been for 4 months now.
