My 2002 saddle convertible top is fraying along the seamline that sits on the rear deck. The cause is cuz I drive with the top down too much! When placing the top in storage, the bottom edge rubs the carpet inside the trunk area. Which is also wearing the carpet. Driver's side is worse than passenger side.
Any ideas on how I can prevent further damage. Too early to replace top. Thinking of using some clear silicone on the area, might not be attractive but need to do something quick.

i am attaching some pics of the damage. Have read where some tops are rubbing on deck and scratching but that is not the case on mine. At one point it does touch deck paint and has rubbed a bit but really think this has more to do with carpet rub just by looking at how the carpet is looking right now.
