Ultimate amateur Corvette C6 track-day car? 630hp 2750 lbs
Okay, it's not a Porsche, but you have to admire the craftsmanship and the end result. Worth scrolling through and drooling.
Katech's (Jason - engine builder) thread which compresses the owner's (Mike) threads from CorvetteForums:

Basically, Mike has a C6 Z06 and starts by wanting a better 'track' car, but has remorse cutting up his Z06. So he decides to buy a brand-new 07 base C6 (steel frame, easier to weld a cage to), dropping in the LS7 crate motor from a Z06, and doing some simple track mods. But as we all know, it's a slippery slope....
"It started off as just a roll cage and harnesses then the project snowballed."
By the time the project is going, it's a full-on C6R replica without the rule restrictions. Not built for any specific class, this is just for him to race his buddies at his local track (Autobahn Country Club, Joliet, IL).
The end result is a 630+ hp Katech-built LS7 in a ~2750 pound Fall Line Motorsports race-prepped chassis. Money doesn't appear to be the object. Wow. I can only wish....
