In the New Car 7 Driver, they have that one lap thing around the Virginia International Raceway and not only did the Z06 beat the best 911s Porsche has to offer (Turbo, GT3) it also beat the new Audi R8 and it beat the record lap time set by the Ford GT, also it was the first street cat they tested to lap in under 3 minutes...the Z06 is one helluva car...man i cant wait to see the Blue Devil

It was a nice big comparo. They shouldn't have the categories by just cost alone though.

Cost is the most important parameter. Usually people think: "what can I get for this $$$?". All the comparisons that disregard the price are for millionaires, although those guys don't need any comparison because they buy all the cars they want and decide later :spanked:

With unlimited money a car can be made crazy fast, look at the Veyron. It is not fair to compare it with other cars because there is simply nothing in its price range.

What other criteria would you use?

GM has done some job with the Corvette Z06! This car has really set the mark for all cars, i love the fact that cars that cost twice as much have to benchmark the Z06 now. Back in 2000 when the 01 Z06 came out the world felt the wrath of the Corvette, now with the C6 Z it's stronger than ever!

I own a 2004 Z06 right now, and all i can say is i am VERY proud of my car, i was a freshman in h.s. when the Z first hit the streets and i was in love, i swore i would own this car, even though i make frequent trips to the blood bank for the payments . When the C5 Z06 was new it was top dog, but...the C6 Z06 is insane on a whole new level. I can't believe the amount of performace this car has, it beats a 911 GT3 with race compound tires by over 3 secs? Porsche's 911 Turbo that cost over twice as much? WOW

After im done paying for the 04 Z06, i'm getting a C6 Z06 for sure, the Blue Devil / SS will be faster for sure but i think of the SS as the 911 Turbo and the Z06 as the 911 GT3, i rather have a race car for the street like the Z06. Just the name Z06 gives me chills, it really set the Vette apart from the rest.

Patrick

Yes the 997 gt3 from the many writeups is quite a package & an outstanding performance car. However it's $120,000 as opposed to a C-6 Z06 at roughly $ 75,000 & the Z06 is faster. Not to mention the value of the C-6 Z-51 & the outstanding performance in that article. The 2 best performance car values in the world Imho are the corvette & the corvette(Z06 or Z-51 C-6) take your pick. All the rest are a step down.(cause they are too heavy & or are overpriced). Look at the 997 turbo in that article, too heavy & it's performance shows it.Nice car but way overpriced(I have a mint 2003 996tt that is on the way to being replaced by a 2008 Z06). also have a 2006 Lpe maggie C-6/A-6 as my daily driver. So yes I'm more than a little bit of a vette nut, but still consider & admire other performance cars of all types.
