Hi

I was looking at ads on onother vette site. Great car ,, good price
2003 Z 06 for $38,000. WITH 628 MILES.. Was delivered to the guys house brand new in a coverd van. Never seen rain etc etc. Had about 2000 or more in interior upgrades. Two tone steering wheel, and other color coordinated upgrades.. Now I checked that the cost of a Z06 new in 2003 was well over $50,000 plus taxes etc. So this owner has a least $55000 into this car. So if he gets the $38000 it will have cost him $17000 to drive 628 miles. For some reason it just don't make sence to me.. Unless of course the guy has lots and lots of bucks to waste. I could see if he was going to keep it as some sort of collectable that his grand kids were going to sell but other than that WHY? Hell I only have a lowly c4 but I drive it when ever I can. I love driving it. I can just imagine have a Z06 to drive. I sure couldn't let it sit like that. Hell he didn't even get it broken in. IMHO

:agree: I't's amazing how many people don't drive their vettes.....It's a car....your supposed to drive it!! I drive the livin **** out of mine and love every minute of it.
Well i guess there are two scenarios:

You can watch it depreciate...

Or you can drive it...

:WTF
How could you resist? During the winter when my vette was snowed in I would go out and just sit in it in the garage, I couldnt' wait to get her out.

My new Z is less than 2 weeks old and already has about 500 miles... and its not even the daily driver.... Getting the 3m clear braw put on tomorrow to help with all the bugs that love to stick to the white.;)
It is the exact same thing as the current [email protected] "Biker" scene: It's a fashion accessory, nothing more. For people who feel the need to impress their 'peers'. The big new H-D dealer in my town is literally a 'lifestyle fashion boutique' in which the motorcycles themselves are but trendy fashion accessories, taking up maybe 40% of the floorspace. Makes me want to puke. One of the (many) reasons I sold my bike a couple years ago, after over 30 years of riding.

Haha I second that one i have a 06 i bought 1 year ago and i have 15000 miles on it and i live in Michigan. That means its in the garage all winter. I drive my car everything i get a chance, do i go easy on it HELL NO.. Its a corvette they cost so much because they are street legal race cars. If i wanted to go slow id get an escalde, if i just wanted it to sit in my gararge all the time i would buy a Ford, haha. I say drive the car, have fun with the car, and fix the car when you break something having too much fun.
Hey! c6z! Where you at?
First time I ever saw a Lovelander on a forum! I can see the library through my back yard....

John

( Friggin' citizens in the Narrows, frustrating, ain't it?)
Hey John !!

Same here, never seen another Lovelander on the site, I have seen a few from Fort Collins, but this is the first from Loveland.... I drive right by you everyday on way to work down first, (at least when they aren't paving on 34)... I am out by horseshoe, and pretty much a life long Lovelander...

Oh, man I hear ya... especially on weekends like the one coming up... I typically try and pass everybody I can as we go past Silvendale and then hold up traffic a bit at the damn store, at least until I have a clear road ahead for that first section.

- Mike
Oh yeah, the curve approaching Sylvandale where it opens up to two lanes is always a great place to shift 'er down a gear and romp on it. The steep grade curve a mile up beyond the Narrows just past the cherry jelly stand is one of my favorites too.....

John
i agree, buy the car to drive it, now i wont take the car out if its raining but if it gets rained on o well... Ive put 900 miles in the past month since ive gotten it out of storage, im hopeing to have 7k on the clock before putting it away next winter. my drives usually take place early morning weekends or weekday evenings to avoid traffic, nothing wrong with a traffic jam, but keep a corvette under 20mph for 30 minutes is torture.
Garage Queen

So you guys are saying that because I will not be putting a lot of miles on my new 07 C6 coupe Z51 A6 on star ,Nav,Clear top,Chrome wheels, 2 tone interior,,sports seats ,3LT package etc, that I should not have bought my $58,625 car. I should have left that money in my IRA account for the kids. Come on guys give me a break, I promise that I will take it for a drive on sunny days and try not to get caught in the rain again. But dont"t belittle the great pleasure that I get everytime I look at it and tell myself how lucky I am especially after losing mt ass in KATRINA, this car is the greatest therapy in the world, but you'll already because you come to this great web group, so all I saying is there are as many different owners as there are different cars. This one is my 4th over the years.62,64,65 all cared for and driver, daily drivers as a matter of fact. Thanks for hearing my story.LOVE my car just looking at it gives me.... you know what.......WJC:cheers:

I hear you. I say, if your buy it, do with it what you want. Drive it every day, as I do, or park it and look at it,. Either way, the owner is enjoying it the way they want to. It is hard to understand, but that's to me, not to one who only has 600 miles on an 03. Guess he got out of it what he wanted, now it may be time for someone to get it who wants to enjoy it on the road. Someones going to get a cherry ride!

My 2004 is a garage queen/weekend car. I don't have as many miles as a daily driver, however I agree with the original post and assessment. If you drive it an average amount vs. very little, you really aren't saving any money in depreciation. Just setting up the second guy (gal) for one hell of a deal once you decide to sell/trade.b Therefore, I have a few very long road trips in my future/

Granted, the reverse is true if you put 40K hard miles per year. However, at least your having fun!

Drive em' like you stole em'. Keep em' clean and maintained and then trade/sell for a new one when you get the itch. The joys of Corvette ownership!

omg no no no i hope i didnt give you the wrong impression, as long as your enjoying the car that is what really matters. as for driving when you get to the point where you cant run the climate control contraption because you forgot how then thats a sign that maybe some more miles should be spent. What people are trying to explain is that you shouldnt limit your enjoyment for the weather. like bloomington gold is coming up, now if i wake up and its pooring rain i wont take my car, but if not ill take it. if it gets rains on no biggy i can clean it. but yea man we all just want each other to enjoy our awsome cars, dont ever let someone force you to do someting you dont want to do.
:agree: and WJC, I appologies if my comments came of wrong... nothing wrong with loving your car and keeping it safe.

I too can be over protective of my car at times. I raced home from work early last week because of a thunderstorm 20 miles north, which was moving east and had the "potential" of producing small hail. I was just amazed somebody could own a Z06 and only dirve it 600 miles in 4 years.. Perhaps they were injured or got sick

lol i did that once
WJCook--

Sorry, I guess I came off a bit harsh too. I guess my point was about the reasons people buy them: because they love them (whether or not they drive them much), or because it's the latest trend to be able to say they have one, even though they have no clue what to do with it other than use it to impress other people. Until the next trend comes along when it will be discarded like a pair of lime green bell bottom disco pants.

It does go both ways: At least if it's not getting a lot of miles, it is slowly becoming one of those "low milage survivors" we all dream of finding someday....

What counts is the passion behind it.
And a few miles.....:D

John
I also get suspicious of any Z06 ads with extremely low miles. All the miles might be track use. However 628 sounds more like a forgotten Z06 than a raced Z06.

I knew a guy in Chicago who thought he struck gold and bought a 3-year old 2002 Z06 with only 5K for $35K. The engine blew 1 month after he bought it and it was out of warranty.
Hey guys I guess my orginal question stirred things up.. I actually wrote the same note on the other forum. The owner answered and he broke the 17,000 dollars down into a monthly cost. It was $345. a month. He said that was nothing to have a Z06 to drive when ever he wanted. I guess he just never wanted to drive it. Well how about adding the cost of insurance to that. Must be at least $400 a month. Thats if he paid cash for it to begin with. Add a monthly payment to that and it sure did cost this guy a bundle to be able to go out to his garage and "think" about how he could drive anytime he want's.

What other forum? There's another forum? Huh!
