I would highly suggest that you buy and install NEW 280 or 320 GRIT STONES,(which depends on the rings used) if you BORROW a HONE, and you inspect them frequently and NEVER run a HONE DRY! I normally use a LOT of water from a runing hose while honeing a cylinder, then I totally re-clean and dry , and totally oil the block. don,t forget that to hone that engine properly you should have torque plates in place and torqued in place
