AL : <grunting sound>

Patrick: "What's the problem?"

AL: "I can't get your shifter knob off. How'd you attach it?"

Patrick: "A few drops of lock tite then screwed it down."

AL: "I'm practically twisting the shaft Patrick, I can't get this knob off."

Patrick: "I paid $15 for the shift knob, just cut into the top of it with your saws-all then smash it with a hammer until it crumbles."

You sound like me.

FYI, I drove a car with LGs Delrin knob. I liked it. Looked like crap but the feel through the knob was great.

Otherwise I think you should go with the Z from hell theme and use one of the after market skull shift knobs.

that's pretty funny.

but on a serious side, you DO NOT have to take off the knob for that job...

Owned? Nice.

Al,

I was just trying to give you a little heads up for next time around,...

The truth is, as you know even the stock knob is difficult to take off, and unless you're actually needing to replace the knob itself, it's easier to just gently work the boot ring out (it's just held by a couple of inside protruding tabs) and you can pull it completely inside-out and have plenty of easy access to anything you need underneath, shifter bolts, etc. I learned this because I have replaced my stck C5 knob with a modified C6 model, and this way when I need to have access below the center console I avoid any potential damaging or loosening of the knob threads:thumbsup:

(mine has tape and insulation under there, as I've added those for heat/sound deadening, but normally everything is right there, easily accessable)

hope this helps, header install looks and sounds GREAT!
