Global warming/Climate Change.

Sounds as if they all fell from the sky at the same time. If so, sickness would make no sense.

Why only black crows??? Why no other birds?

The tagline read "Wildlife officials try to determine what caused birds to fall"

Okay wildlife officials, think hard on this one. Maybe because they were dead?

Then they are thinking lightning or hail killed them. Score one for government people:laughing:

We have had mass die-offs of single species of birds around here before. It was a mystery at first that turned out to be a species specific avian virus. Flocking birds live in very close proximity and if one gets the virus, usually hundreds get it. It will be interesting to see what they come up with.

They flew into a cloaked UFO...

"The birds obviously hit something very hard and had hemorrhages," said Rowe.

Falling birds likely died from massive trauma

(CNN) -- The thousands of birds that fell from the sky just before midnight New Year's Eve in Arkansas likely died from massive trauma, according to a preliminary report released Monday.

The birds, most of which were dead when they were found, were red-winged blackbirds and starlings. They were found within a one-mile area of Beebe, about 40 miles northeast of Little Rock, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said.

Keith Stephens, a spokesman for the commission, said the birds showed evidence of trauma in the breast tissue, with blood clots in the body cavity and a lot of internal bleeding. All major organs were normal.

We had about the same thing happen when I was very young. Woke up in the morning after a freak cold snap... to dead birds all over the place... and fish at the local park, floating.

Hmm, they may never know exactly what caused it. I remember a couple times in the past, this has happened.

Yeah it's hypothermia, It happens every year some where,

Either that or they met with a fleet of air craft

The reason it's only one species of fish is because some species cannot handle such a large fluctuation in water temp, Others can

Bon:thumbsup:

I am glad they were dead birds. Live birds falling from the sky would have just looked silly.

I head about a gas pocket of some kind in the Bramutta triangle that is said to come from the ground and bubble through the water and float as a clear pocket in the air. Said pocket of gases was able to chock out prop planes motors and like the birds died and fell. :thud:

Maybe some kinda the same happened there to the fish then 24 hrs later it's air born and affected the black birds.

500 More Birds Fall From the Sky in Louisiana

Celebratory fireworks. That’s what officials in Arkansas say likely sent thousands of discombobulated blackbirds into such a tizzy that they crashed into homes, cars and each other before plummeting to their deaths in central Arkansas. While plausible, new reports of birds falling from the sky in Louisiana raise questions about whether something larger is at work.

While reporting on the thousands of birds dropping out of the sky in Arkansas, the New York Times offers information on a seemingly unrelated incident near Baton Rouge, LA:

Meanwhile roughly 500 dead birds were found on Monday outside New Roads, La. Those birds were much more varied, with starlings and grackle in addition to blackbirds, and a few samples picked up by James LaCour, a wildlife veterinarian with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, did not show any signs of trauma, he said.

“Hundreds of dead and dying birds littered a quarter-mile stretch of highway in Pointe Coupee Parish on Monday as motorists drove over and around them,” the local paper The Advocate reports. And although many will be concerned about the die-off, State Wildlife Veterinarian Jim LaCour told the paper he wasn’t alarmed.

“Underlying disease, starvation and cold fronts where birds can’t get their body heat up” have caused similar occurrences “in various species over the years,” he said.

U.S. Geological Survey spokesman Paul Slota shared LaCour’s anti-alarmist attitude. According to Slota, USGS records shows there have been 16 events in the past 30 years involving blackbirds where at least 1,000 of the birds have died seemingly all at once.

“These large events do take place,” he told the Advocate. “It’s not terribly unusual.”

Officials have not determined the cause of death. Samples have been sent away for lab testing.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
