I get many different opinions, I would like facts...

My understanding is the difference between bore/stroke and just visually bigger, nothing to do with displacement, is this correct? :huh:

the difference between a small-block and a big-block is just that: the size of the block. You can have various displacements in either block based on bore and stroke.

You're right. It has absolutely nothing to do with displacement. There are SBCs with a larger displacement then some BBCs

SBC=400cid
BBC=396cid

Just as there were 6 cylinder engines that had more displacement than several of the smaller V8s.

But like the old adage, there is no replacement for displacement

The rat is bigger than the mouse in every dimension. Displacement varies in both but the whole point of the rat is bigger bore, stroke, and displacement. :thumbsup:
