My friend Dan is a professional cyclist..

The other day he got hit head on by a car on a two lane road. He wasn't racing, just riding. His helmet saved his life.

Just a little reminder that even the best riders in the world are vulnerable. Please look out for your friendly cyclist on the road, give them plenty of room, pass widely.

And always wear your helmet when and if you ride your bike

I dont want any of my DC friends eating pavement any time soon. :):)

Thanks for the heads up Amy...
I hate wearing cycling helmets, but I do own a upper priced product and wear it occasionally.
I also ride against traffic instead of with traffic so I can observe oncomming cars better and swerve or bolt if necessary.

I hate spandex.

FYI the law is to ride with traffic, walk against it. but yeah, sometimes wearing a helmet is kinda weird, you feel like youre 12. but you never know when it will save your life.
