To all fellow c3'ers,

Can anyone tell me what the following engine number means:

V0714CUT

I found it stamped on the right hand side fwd section of the engine between the fuel pump and engine pulley.

Thanks for your help.

Here's the breakdown:

V = Flint
07 = Month June
14 = Day 14th
CUT = Engine Suffix Code:
1978/350/Automatic Trans/L-48/185 HP/4-BBL Carb/Corvette

Source:
http://www.nastyz28.com/gm-chevy-codes/chevy-engine-codes-suffix-4.php

Engine ID Code Example: V0107CLJ - (V = Plant, 01 = January, 07 = 7th Day, CLJ = Engine Suffix Code)
Another example: T0830CTY - (T = Tonawanda, 08 = August, 30 = 30th day, CTY = 1970 396 Camaro, 375 hp, 11.0:1, TH400)

Code Engine Plant
F Flint (Motor)
S Saginaw Service
H Hydramatic
T Tonawanda
K St. Catherines, Ontario (McKinnon Industries Canada)
M GM of Mexico
V Flint (Engine)

My thanks!!!!

Thanks so much for your reply and info, I kinda thought that at least part of it was a date/month combo.

You have been a very helpful young lady, again....thanks.
