I was driving back to school today and was merging onto the highway and immediately passed all the cars that I followed on the onramp and of course right when I got out beside all the cars there was a cop. My radar detector didn't go off so I figured I was ok. Well I wasn't. He pulled me over for 72 in a 55 and said he was using radar. I was in uniform and he let me off. Does anyone know if cops are using a different kind of radar that my detector wouldn't pick up? Thanks.

If your radar detector settings are factory, then something is wrong. You should have gotten some alert. K band is simply too damn strong and wide for it to not be picked up. And, if you got hit with laser, it'll hoot-and-hollar. Something sounds strange.....

Yeah I don't know what is wrong. I haven't tried to upgrade it. My dad suggested I might have to. On the same trip I picked up K, Ka, and X ban so I know it is working...atleast when it wants to. I imagine he would have said he clocked me with laser if he had been using laser. Either that or he was just trying to get me fired up and said that he clocked me and really didn't. I don't know.

Lidar, lazer or vascar all good possibilities.

My wife has directed me to get HER one of the Escort SRX's that "stealth" mount and will "shift" lazer signals. She says the way she likes to drive she needs it....

What did you end up doing?
Yeah it was the Sunday after Thanksgiving so I had to be back to the Academy that night and I'm not allowed to wear civilian clothes down there. When the cop came up to my car he just asked for my license and asked if I could do him a favor and slow down. I gave him a big "YES, SIR". He let me go.

Jim, I imagine it wasn't lazer of vascar or soemthing else because the guy said he shot me with radar.

POP is a technology that has only been implemented by MPH. It was introduced on MPH's handheld radars in 1999, and it has also been incorporated into MPH's newest dashmounted radars. POP technology is aimed at an old problem - defeating radar detectors.

At the time of it's release, MPH's exclusive POP technology was the only radar technology that could measure a vehicle speed without setting off any radar detectors. This technology was made possible by MPH’s expertise in manufacturing microwave sources that can turn on and stabilize quickly and by digital signal processing (DSP) techniques. The radar can obtain an accurate speed reading in milliseconds, which is far faster than an operator can operate a switch.

When the MPH radar is placed into POP mode, the radar emits a short burst of energy and quickly measures the vehicle's speed. The radar then goes immediately into standby and displays the target's speed for a couple of seconds. The entire measurement happens so quickly that the NO radar detector could detect it with any accuracy, including Valentine, Bel, Cobra, Whistler, Uniden and Escort.

Hey Digital members, I bought one of these from this same seller..Tony? that you?

I had it installed in my wife's Cayenne...it is cool. (I had it installed cause I didn't want to have to deal with fishing wires through the tail gate and then past the side air bags. Took the place I used a total of 17 hours!:surprised
The whole front end had to come off.

Savin my $ to get one for the Vette to replace my V1.

Anyway, I can vouch for this guy!
