Yes, a couple of times. One in '69 a huge one mile wide one ripped all the leaves off of the brush a few miles away near Las Cruces New Mexico. lasted only a few mins. The worst was when I was flying my airplane over a saddle in the mountains near Deming New Mexico, and saw a "thunderstorm" over the peak of the mountain to my right, which was not that unusual. Saw "dust" clouds below and to the rear, then saw the damn funnels (3) going from the ground to the clouds. Scared the **** out of me!
I was on the outskirts of the F4/F5 tornado that hit near home back in 2002. Winds were breath taking, damage was even more so. Spent a lot of time working construction in one of the worst hit neighborhoods. Can't say I've ever crawled around an upside-down house before and never have
I seen foundations blown cleaner than when they were first laid. Amazing.
I was dead center............
