I just sent my hooker side pipes back to be recoated under there warranty. I have a old set of headmen headers and a pair of flowmaster 40 series mufflers laying around, that I am considering putting back on the car. When I put the stroker motor in I went straight to the side pipes and I am wondering what normal pipes would sound and perform like.

My question is that I have a richmond 6 speed and had to cut the top of the exhaust hole out of the crossmember to clear the linkage. I also welded a backing plate to the hole that I cut for strength. Is there any way to run exhaust without going through those holes. I could remove the plate I put on but I am worried how close the exhaust will be the the linkage.

Any pics of exhaust would be great.

I think they ran the pipes thru the holes in the x-member for ground clearance. Under might make it a bit tight. Over will be too close to the glass.

Thanks for the pic. You did not have to cut the crossmember to clear the linkage??????
