FAST Intake Manifold

I just bought this intake for my 07 coupe and have heard that the engine covers may not fit afterwords. Has anyone had that problem? If so, can they be modified or do they need to be replaced? Additionally, for those of you who have this mod, what did you pay for its installation and what kind of HP improvements did you get? Thanks, Tim

Tim...when I had the FAST and tried to install the engine covers, the driver side would not go on and the pass. side did, but sat way above the intake, leaving a very noticable gap, so I took them off instead of trying to cut/modify them.I've seen labor rates for installation of the FAST range from $500 to $1000, depending on the shop. There may be cheaper out there, but thats my experience.I saw a 16.5 RWHP difference with the FAST.Good luck:thumbsup:
Evilways-

thanks a bunch for your feedback and advice. I'm admiring of your C6 and it will no doubt be a monster when you get done with it! Do you know where I can get new covers for the engine since stock covers wont fit the FAST? I do hope you're estimates on installation of the FAST were high. The damn thing costs less than its installation?!?!?! I'll let you know what my guy charged me when it arrives.

thanks again and good luck with your new mods! Tim

Tim,

The estimates I have received for the FAST are right in the range of what Evil stated. Most are closer to the high end. It has a lot to do with the intake being designed for the C5. On the C6 the firewall will need to be cut, a small piece removed below the wiper tray, and LPE sells a molded piece to replaqce what is cut out. Along with that the MAF is relocated. A bit of labor involved so the cost of installation goes up.
So that moulded piece lingenfelter sells is necessary in addition to the fuel rails, o-rings, etc that the vendor is selling me with the FAST to adapt it to the LS2? Do you think the lingenfelter 100mm MAF would be a beneficial add on the same time this is installed? thanks a bunch, tim

My covers fit OK but the driver's side is hard to get in place.

The LPE 100mm Maf improves responsiveness and adds a little HP on a Z06 or a Modified LS2 with 450+ rwhp it requires MAF replacement and retuning. It is not recommend for stock LS2s. The price for the FAST install sounds about right. Mine was part of the engine package and was not split out on the invoice.
