i'm looking to replace my stock shifter with a new one.

any ideals which is better then the other? is a new one that much better over stock?
I had a short shifter in my C4. The benefits are a shorter throw (which is great).... but the throw then becomes "stiffer" requiring more effort.

Additionally many have reported that the Hurst shifter rattles.

But, you'll never miss the 2-3 shift every again.

;)

I say go for the HURST short throw shifter.

I put one in my Z06 and it is AWESOME!!! Makes driving so much more pleasurable! It has several different spring tension settings so you can taylor it to your liking.

As far as rattles, yes I have heard some guys using the Hurst shifter with the stock knob and Momo knobs it can rattle. However, if you go with a knob from MGW, ZERO rattles!

I cant say enough praise about the Hurst.

Good luck!

Installed a Hurst S/S on my Z, and like it much better than stock.
It does at some frequencies rattle, but it's barely noticable.

Wouldn't think twice about doing it over again.

Hey CrazyYellowZ06,
I'm looking at the same mod for mine too. There are photos and install at C5forum. Check out Hurst shifters for sale on Ebay they're about a hudred bucks off list. Made a mistake and put a K&N filter in the stock air box and find the locks don't stay closed.
Planning a twin conical soon too.
