Hey guys just got my '84 vette today. Picked it up for $1400 but it needs a lot of work. Its a two-tone bronze with a Z51 suspension and a 4+3 manual....so far completely stock. Took some pictures side by side with my brothers 84 vette also. The driveway has never looked as good. I'm pretty happy that at 15 I finally have my own vette that I've earned through alot of work. Tell me what you think:thumbsup:

The outside looks good!
I'd say you got a pretty sweet deal even if it does need work.

What else have you noticed wrong with it, beside what's obvious in the pics? Any mechanical problems?

A steal of a deal I have paid a lot more for less! The last 84 I bought was $2500 and I needed a 4+3, tires, shocks, waterpump, fan and related componets. oh yea a radio, and speakers. I did just sell it for $5900

Thanks and yes there are mechanical problems but I'm hoping that it is just the gas because when my dad drove it home it would keep stalling and it ran really rough and rich. So today i was draining the gas from the tank it was at least 50% water mixed in with the fuel, but i wont really know if it is just the gas for at least a week because im gonna drop the tank to make sure thers no more water in it and to clean it out.

Congrats!!!!!

Hey bro,

Congrats!!!! I wish I would have had a Vette for my first vehicle. I had to wait until I was 37 years old to get me one.

You are going to have a lot of fun working on that car!!! You will appreciate the car much more after you have put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into your very own car. Once again, congratulations!!!

Looks like a great project car to me. The body looks to be pretty honest.

Where did your brother get the red hoses? They look really good.
My brother got them from summit.com

15!!!!! Excellent start. Looking back at my first resto, which was a 66 GTO, my advice is pick a particular section, find it's bad points and finish that section top to bottom. That way, you can set and meet those goals based on what you have to put (money wise) into that section. Overall, you won't become frustrated looking a one huge pile of parts, just keep it simple and take lots of pics of each section prior to pulling it apart, and take lots of notes. I would start with the engine, cooling system, trans and suspension, one at a time. Don't get off track looking at all of the nice stuff for the interior/exterior, stay focused on the drivetrain first. Once you have that bullet proof, the interior/exterior isn't too bad, alot of unbolt and replace. You know, Contemporay Corvette in Bristol Pa. will have C4 parts you'll need, like maybe bolting a LT-1 engine and trans right in there rather than the cost of a L98 rebuild???? Something to think about. Best of luck.

I have great respect for any 15 year old who knows what he wants and is willing to work for it. Good job.
You don't know it, but you are setting a great example for everyone your age.
I look forward to seeing your in progress shots. When you are done, you will have something to be proud of and that the other kids your age will envy.
