Drove by a blue/black 68 coupe last night. Sitting in a back yard with a big sign on it. Been there for a long time I was told. SB, Th400. Needs everything: nose,full paint, full interior, chrome, and I didn't look under it.
Called the guy up and he wants $6,000 for the car, worth about $800 to me.
Started to tell me it's only needs $15k to be a $30k car. I told him I work on them every day and this car is no where near that. I doubt highly that it could be done by a shop for $15k in labor, parts & materials.

If this is a member's car that is my offer, if someone wants to know where it sits let me know. It's in parts car shape.

There is a '72 coupe 4-speed in my area setting at a salvage yard in the
same shape as you just described, maybe worse. They want $5000 for it. :rolling: :rolling: :rolling:

What's 6000 pesos?? $0.60?? I was at the Harley Dealer in Kuwait- they had a Dyna setting there with a big tag-- 6995 -- I was diggin' for my credit card until I remembered that it was Kuwaiti Dinar. It takes $3.40 US to make 1 Dinar. :rolling:

This car was/is beat up, the impact crushed the nose and buckled it. The paint is peeling and a lot of the 68 only parts are missing. If it were a 427 or even a 4 spd vert I may make an offer but I would part this one at Carlisle and the drivetrain is only good for cores. It's on a main road so I'm sure a lot of people have seen it. Someone will offer a few grand for it thinking they have a treasure I'm sure.

I bought mine for about that price and it had the interior done, a new crate engine, and it runs! Its pink, but it runs. lol

Its sick how much people want for nothing more than a rusted chassis and a chrome bumper VIN.

Well I suppose it depends where you are. Here in the USA there are plenty of corvettes of all years. C3's used to be frowned on by a lot of people about 15 years ago.

This car is junk and if it were any other model it would have been trashed years ago. The thought the seller would try and convince someone a $15k investment along with $6k buy price would give a 30k car is just not sound logic. If so why didn't he do the same? I can do everything but paint on the car and I still wouldn't consider it.

Now outside of the states maybe this would be worth wild but I think it would cost less to fly here, find a good car and ship it. Or hire someone here to find you the year you want and the condition you want.
