I started a thread similar to this a while ago, titled Strange Vibration. My problem started around 4,000 miles or so, but it was noticed after I replaced the factory polished wheels with some aftermarket chrome wheels. The tires and wheels were re-balanced and the vibration went away momentarily. It still comes in around 80-85 mph then goes away as the speed increases or decreases.

At this point I have had the car aligned and looked at by GM reps at the National Corvette Museum Birthday Bash and they felt it was the aftermarket rims.

At this point I now have 6,600 miles and have two trips planned for the remainder of the year. So I figure in the Fall I will have to replace tires and at that time I will put the factory polished wheel back on the car. I believe the culprit is the chrome wheels.

So for now I either cruise at 70 or have a little fun!

...get your wheels indexed..

I would never tolerate any type of shimmy at any speed.

I know of several owners that went with those crappy chinese wheels that have had issues with these wheels.

Best of luck,

Les
