1. Car has 75000 miles on it so i figure its a good idea to replace the fuel filter as it may have not been done yet.

So.. Is this a DIY project or a dealer task. If anyone has done it themselves, where is it at, how hard is it to change etc...

2000 C5 Automatic.

Thanks!

Greetings,

I just had the fuel filter replaced on my 2000 a4 coupe today. I probably could have done it myself however I was getting new tires put on and for the $80 in labor, I had my local shop do the install.

It is a tight fit past the flange where the X-pipe and the cat-backs meet. There is some room to get the release tool to work, but it still is a bit of a pain.

Don't cheap out with a filter. I got a GM filter from my dealership for under $50.00.

P/N: 10299146

I'm at just over 76k miles.

Do it yourself. It's simple. Just make sure you get the tool that releases the fuel line from the filter forward. It's about two bucks. Location is above and left(driver's side) of the transmission.
