Will a "performance" fuel filter really make any difference? Suggestions?:huh:

The purpose of the filter is to...Filter. A stock filter will be adequate, however, most after market 'performance' filters will filter out smaller particles and flow more fuel. Both of these are important. A clogged filter can actually starve the engine to the point that it will lose power. Dirty fuel wrecks havoc on injectors. So perfomrmance or stock that's your call. Just run a clean one. BTW there are some cool looking filters out there that can dress up an engine compartment

Thanks for both replies... Actually I am very aware what a fuel filter is theoretically supposed to do, but I have heard people talk about how a "performance" fuel filter can be a benefit, not in the league of a new exhaust system or a ram air intake, but a little, and at what seems to be a pretty small price. I am sure my current filter could use a replacement, even if that means just grabbing a new oem unit from the local dealer, I was just curious if anyone had experimented with any aftermarket models or "performance" types.

I've included a couple links as to what I'm speaking of. Again, I'm not expecting a report of a drastic horsepower increase, just curious if these are of any benefit, even if that benefit is just, well, better filtered fuel :laughing:

Interesting reading. Any time you can filter your fuel better that is a good thing. For the minmal expense I say it can't hurt.

This is crazy. I just got my T/A running today and it wouldn't start untill I replaced the filter. The old one was on backwards.:surprised :surprised
And the car ran fine when I took it apart.
