A stock filter will be adequate, however, most after market 'performance' filters will filter out smaller particles and flow more fuel. Both of these are important. A clogged filter can actually starve the engine to the point that it will lose power. Dirty fuel wrecks havoc on injectors. So perfomrmance or stock that's your call. Just run a clean one. BTW there are some cool looking filters out there that can dress up an engine compartment
