This might be another sign of the dreaded fuel gauge problem.

If you are not already using higher quality gasoline (top tier) consider doing so. Also consider using a fuel system additive / cleaner like Chevron Techron from your local parts store.

Mine has some trouble as well, especially around 1/4 of a tank. Sometimes it works fine and other times it just drops to zero.

Best of luck.

Had the same problem with my 2000 vette at approximately 17k miles. Dealer replaced the sending unit and told me that the problem was related to a breakdown of the braze used. The entire system was redesigned for 03 or 04.

Try a can of BG44K fuel treatment. Available at larger OEM parts counters. $18-25 a can. One can for a tank full. Drive it untill almost empty before refueling. The stuff works, it should help your fuel gauge, engine cylinders/valves and fuel injectors.
