I am just as sick of it as the way house prices shot up for no good reason.
This is the gas companies getting their shot at adjusting prices that have been about the same for about 10 years.
Since my budget and spending habits have evolved around gas at half this price, it is a real shocker to double everything.
My 04 Silverado does about 16 to 18 on my trip to and from work. It is costing me $60 a week right now. If I roll the 69 Corvette with 468 fuel injected cubes and big block (I can't keep my foot out of the throttle when I am driving it) out of the garage - it would cost me $100 a week running high test to feed those piston slugs - not worth it.
Since 05 when the prices started to skyrocket, I have cut my pleasure driving in 1/2 and now cutting that 1/2 in half.
Right now I can afford it, but it just takes the fun out of it. I don't want to sling more in gas to take the car out for a weekend spin than I would spin on dinner once I get to the place I am going.
Bottom line, unless we start walking - biking - city transit riding - there is NOTHING we can do about it. Congress has just now decided to look into it as the excuses have been rolling one after the other out of the gas companies in attempt after attempt to explain why the prices are now stuck at $3. I don't know that I want the Gov. to get involved, but if we are being taken advantage of and being told lies to keep profit high...then they need to be held accountable.
As far as the Vette, my 69 Camaro, and others...it just takes the edge off the fun that was there when I didn't feel as abused at the pump.
