Not sure how much more I can take. Mine is my daily driver and I'll have to seriously alter the way I drive it if prices get any higher. I currently only average about 17 mpg.

how much is the price of gas in the States?

is a US Gallon 3.5 or 4.5 litres?

I pay around AU$1.30 a litre
A gallon is about 3.78 liters. So that would make your gas $4.91 per gallon. I'll keep my US gas.

As far as I'm concerned it cost too much to cut the grass so I can have an excuse to skip every other week.:D

The gas for a vette wouldn't keep me from getting another one and "touring". It's the 230+ gal. tank on the boat I'm looking at that will keep me from buying.

Everything is relative.

I am just as sick of it as the way house prices shot up for no good reason.

This is the gas companies getting their shot at adjusting prices that have been about the same for about 10 years.

Since my budget and spending habits have evolved around gas at half this price, it is a real shocker to double everything.

My 04 Silverado does about 16 to 18 on my trip to and from work. It is costing me $60 a week right now. If I roll the 69 Corvette with 468 fuel injected cubes and big block (I can't keep my foot out of the throttle when I am driving it) out of the garage - it would cost me $100 a week running high test to feed those piston slugs - not worth it.

Since 05 when the prices started to skyrocket, I have cut my pleasure driving in 1/2 and now cutting that 1/2 in half.

Right now I can afford it, but it just takes the fun out of it. I don't want to sling more in gas to take the car out for a weekend spin than I would spin on dinner once I get to the place I am going.

Bottom line, unless we start walking - biking - city transit riding - there is NOTHING we can do about it. Congress has just now decided to look into it as the excuses have been rolling one after the other out of the gas companies in attempt after attempt to explain why the prices are now stuck at $3. I don't know that I want the Gov. to get involved, but if we are being taken advantage of and being told lies to keep profit high...then they need to be held accountable.

As far as the Vette, my 69 Camaro, and others...it just takes the edge off the fun that was there when I didn't feel as abused at the pump.

Would it make u all feel a bit better if I tell u that in Belgium we pay about 1.35€ per liter, thats 1.83 US$ per liter so per gallon that's over 6.5$ (unless I made a mistake somewhere in my calculation)
It's a lot of money, but too much is always relative.

I am looking into shutting down the DD and using public transportation and my bike to get to work. This will help me afford to fill up the vette for summer cruising.

Not much more. And if we all keep thinking that we'll drive no matter what the price, then it will never go down. Personally, I'm sick of it.
AMEN BROTHER!!!!
Totally sick of the rising gas prices. Noone seems to be controlling the prices, (OPEC)?? If the gas companies were to build more refineries, we probably wouldn't have these rising gas costs?? And we know they don't want to do that!!!:spanked:
