guys,
my 6 speed 03 vert has 37000miles on it. about 4ooo miles ago i noticed a pitchy vibration noise coming from the gear box area. it happens in 4th-6th gear while my foot is on the gas with rpms anywhere from 1200 up. the noise stops when i take it out of gear or take my foot off the gas. I thought it might have something to do with the exhaust but i ruled that out last week when i installed LG long tube headers that go all the way back to the catbacks. its not an exhaust drone. if it were i would hear it while the car is in or out of gear. the service manager from my dealer took it for a ride, he thinks it's road noise. i know it's not! I've had a hurst performance short throw shifter on the car since the car was new. it's not the usual shifter rattle, much worse more like a spinning whistle that gets higher/louder as rpms rise. today as i was driving i took the leather cover off the shifter and lifted the edge of the rubber boot at the base, the noise was pretty loud. i'm afraid things are getting worse. please help!
thanks,
tom

Have you checked the rear end and tranny fluids? Is there by chance something stuck under you car? Are the air dams together and in one place? Just some ideas

nothing under the car had it on a lift a few days ago. everything looks good. about 15000 miles ago i had the rear seals done by the dealer and changed all my fluids to redline ATF Gear oil and trans. fluids with the gm additive. sounds stupid but i haven't checked the fluids, no spots or leaks on the garage floor so i figured thats not the problem.
