Ok, so about a year ago, I turned the active handling off and oops, did a 720* in the middle of a busy highway. To make a long story short, I ended up putting my baby up on a curb and bending the hell out of the front skid plate. Well, I'm lazy and don't want to be without my car and I've put off getting the skid plate replaced. I've also been looking at Ecklers and couldn't believe that the part was $300 plus shipping (and their shipping was outragous!). I just went and bought the part on GM Parts Direct for HALF the price!!!! Patrick, if you read this thread, they are a great VENDOR!!

I've spent about $2500 with them in the last few months. I break stuff faster then I can get it fixed... LOL. :laughing:

I've bought from them twice, both times all went well. Their handling charges and shipping charges are ambitious for the small, light items I've ordered, but in the end they're still cheaper than most other vendors and they get the parts to me quickly. I'll buy from them again.

I always factor all that in, I agree that you have to pay attention to the additional charges. But at the end of the day, they are always cheaper than the local dealer! I think on one order I saved at least $500 even after shipping and handling.

I love that site. I too have ordered many times from them and I agree with the statement about S&H charges, but you do end up saving a ton of money. One downside is not being able to put any rush on orders whatsoever.

I just did a brake job on a friend's CTS-V and it went down like this.

Caddy dealer price for new pads and rotors installed: $1500
Chevy dealer price for OEM parts only: $959
GM Parts Direct cost for OEM parts only: $704 (including shipping)
Best pads from Advance Auto Parts plus OEM front rotors from GM Parts Direct: $314

Voila!

I handle it like this.


Once I receive the price quotation for the part and if the shipping charges look out of line, I write back and say "I think something is wrong with your system, the part is only X size or weighs X." Each time they have cut the shipping charges by at least 50%!!! :thumbsup:
