Well, if you thought that Z06 image was photochop'd ... what do you think now?

I just had these AWESOME baby-back BBQ ribs tonight, got them from a local pizza place. I tell you, the meat just fell off the bones, nice smoky BBQ sauce too.

Now, just as I'm slipping into a delightful "food coma" we get these two e-mails from GM in the Webmaster e-mail inbox.

As you can see below, Mike was very polite and professional in his e-mail. Seems like a real nice guy. Unlike Robert, who wasn't so nice, so he shouldn't expect to hear from me.

I went to the "Is this it?" post -- but all I saw was a big red X. It would appear the person took the image off his website already.

So, there you have it, I figured you'd want to know where the image went.

If there are any further e-mails, I will add them to this post.

Dear Sir,

My name is Mike xxxxxxx and I'm the xxxxxxx of Broadcast Communications for General Motors.

I've noticed that you have one of GM's embargoed photographs of the 2005 Corvette on your website. Since this image is embargoed until January 10, 2005, I am asking that you remove the image from your site until the embargo is lifted. While I don't expect you to tell me who provided you with the image, I am wondering if you would tell me if you received the image before Noon on Tuesday, November 9.

If there is any confusion regarding usage of GM's embargoed images or if you would like to discuss the situation with me, I can be reached through
email, or by phone at 313-665-xxxx. Thank you for your help with this matter.

Mike xxxxxxxx

Dear Sir,

Please remove the pictures that are part of the following:

DIGITALCORVETTES.COM > C6 Corvette > C6 Corvette - Z06 & C6R > Is this it?

These pictures are the property of General Motors. Please contact me so we can discuss this issue in further detail.

Thanks,

We've been asked to remove copyrighted images before. Hardly some huge deal. It's done out of respect. You know, ethics.

But, you can link to the image all you want from here. I can't control what other people put on their sites.

I hardly intend nor have the resources to check every post and link on this site for these images, nor are we obligated to do this by any laws. And, it's GM's fault they lost control of a picture. I hardly intend to police the site because of their screw up.

I won't HOST or DISPLAY the pic on this site, but beyond that it's GM's problem, not mine. Link away.

And to think that is the first C-6 I really like. Oh well, I guess I will just have to view it in private.

For those that do not know. GM provides PR pictures to magazines so that they can get thier articles out at the same time the car debuts.

The embargo is a restriction on anyone getting the images before the public debut. Those images were delivered to magazines 11/9/2004 via CD's with 300dpi TIFF images.

If the image was leaked before the 9th, then this leads one to the conclusion that this was an Internal GM leak. If after the date, this leads one to believe that a publisher leaked it.

Drip... drip.... drip... drip.......

Does GM think that in this day and age when even Microsoft couldn't keep the Halo 2 CD underwraps before it went gold - that we are going to let some silly embargo and a couple of CD's full of Tiffs slow us down?

MUHAHAHAHAHA..... ;) :smack

Y'all deserved to see it... :)

Now if only i can get all those "it must be a photochop" folks to buy me a beer... ;)

What about those specs that included the weight, power and Torque are those real also?
Let's just say they forgot to embargo certain folks typing skills... :rolling:
