Now this is something to be proud of:

(CNSNews.com) - In the first 19 months of the Obama administration, the federal debt held by the public increased by $2.5260 trillion, which is more than the cumulative total of the national debt held by the public that was amassed by all U.S. presidents from George Washington through Ronald Reagan
The first two fiscal years in which Obama has served will see the two biggest federal deficits as a percentage of Gross Domestic Product since the end of World War II.

I've heard him say on more than one occaision, "I'm just gettin' started!"

There's going to be a big noise in the White House on November 3rd, after his ego is burst like an overinflated balloon.

Chicken feed in comparison to George W. Bush who racked up more debt than all US presidents combined, including Obama.

George W. Bush added almost $6.5 trillion to the national debt 2001 - through FY 2009. ALL US PRESIDENTS COMBINED!!

Carter left us about $800 billion in the hole; Reagan/Bush ended in 1993 with $4.2 trillion; Clinton ended with $5.7 trillion -- but George W?

George W. left us on 1/20/2009 with a $10.8 trillion national debt and a $1.2 trillion FY 2009 budget deficit already accrued as of 1/8/2009 per the CBO.

Do the math, Terence, and let's see this headline.

GEORGE W. BUSH RAN UP MORE NATIONAL DEBT THAN ALL US PRESIDENTS COMBINED !!

I think the important point is, is wether or not the OP was ready for the comments that would follow ... up to 5 pages now ...

They don't look good with respect to the usual faux right-wing anomalies and lies and distortions ... i.e. (losing ones soul) anything it takes in *taking the country back* ...

From rsmerdlap ~

"Zandi said... for every dollar spent in benefits, the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grows by $1.61 one year later"
Then Zandi speaks nonsense.

"it is nonsensical to reckon national income or national wealth.

As soon as we embark upon considerations foreign to the reasoning of a man operating within the pale of a market society, we are no longer helped by monetary calculation methods.

The attempts to determine in money the wealth of a nation or of the whole of mankind are as childish as the mystic efforts to solve the riddles of the universe by worrying about the dimensions of the pyramid of Cheops....

Is it correct or not to enclose the “value” of the country’s climate and the people’s innate abilities and acquired skill ?

The businessman can convert his property into money, but a nation cannot."

- Human Action by Ludwig von Mises

Can you imagine if the resident right-wingers posted like this ... what a breath of fresh-air it would be around here ...

Second Largest Crash in US History makes for a large Deficit.

Sprinkle in a couple Wars for good measure … and whaalaa … pass bills come due.

Get some Apples and compare them to some more Apples, and get back to us after you’ve baked that pie.

It took 50 years to create the EU with the importance being assimilating the southern EU states into the EU because they're the poorest (almost all countries as they get closer to the equator are poor) ...

It took Bush only 8 years to take America into the same dimension ... sad.

Hey ! Not smart man... Ludwig Mises is a anti-socialist. His writing are the antithesis (exact opposite) of every belief and ideology that you hold.

Holy cow... you read it... had absolutely zero understanding of what you read... but it was written with such literary excesses and metaphor... that you simply took it's meaning to mirror your own.

Here's a little more from Ludwig...

"Without calculation, economic activity is impossible. Since under Socialism economic calculation is impossible, under Socialism there can be no economic activity in our sense of the word ... All economic change, therefore, would involve operations the value of which could neither be predicted beforehand nor ascertained after they had taken place. Everything would be a leap in the dark. Socialism is the renunciation of rational economy." -- Ludwig von Mises, Socialism, 1981, pp. 103-105.

Are all those previous debts adjusted to today's value? Just wondering. And are we talking about a percent or the actual value?

Statistics are funny like that....you can make almost any result you want.

And I wonder why the math excluded Bush I, Clinton, and Bush II?

Also known as "the goldfish theory" -completely oblivious to the lessons that were taught to you the day before... and regurgitating the same espousal's from a position of benightedness.

I would bet that Barry will out spend all previous presidents including both Bushes and Clinton before his term is up.
