Ok, here's the story. I have the Maggie on my Vette with a H/C Pkg. Suddenly the coolant temps soar to the 230 range when driving. I start with the basics, Flush the Dexcool out and replace with prestone extended life Coolant.
No change there, so I head to the next step. The theremo is replaced with another 160* stat and still not cooling it down any. I think to myself, no problem, Replace the Waterpump. Still no help.
this prompts me to Pull the heads (I'm at an 11.2:1 CR with 5 psi of boost) to see if there is any notable problems there and to replace the stock style gaskets with a thicker Cometic Gasket that will drop CR to 10.58:1.
Still not cooling.
Header wraps seems to be the answer. Decrease the engine bay temps and decrease the coolant temps, right?
Well, i did this and it was immediately noticable of the reduction in transmitted piston slap. I let the Vette Idle for 20 min and the temp stayed at 180*. I got in and drove it and the temp shot to 230* :WTF
I Get home a start going over every little thing that was done. Recheck for Exaust leaks and thats when it hit me. I had to turn off the AC to check for leaks (that way the fan would be off).
With the AC off, temps are normal. Turn the AC on and temps start to soar.
When I get home tonight I'll check the charge in the AC system, even though it still blows cold. I think that the compressor may not be cycling and causing a greater load on the engine.
What do you guys think?

Hey Pat do the fans come on when you turn the A/C on maybe you have a bad fan switch? Because there is a diff in the fans with A/C on and A/C off.

Yeah, the fans work great. That was one of the first things I checked and noticed the clog of road type debris in the radiator. It's what prompted me to flush the Cooling system since I had the radiator out.
