my left headlight is making a grinding noise when I close them. Do I need a new motor or ?

First guess is that the plastic headlight actuator gear is stripping out. You might have a look and if it is, go ahead and order a replacemenmt

Here is the website for a brass replacement - www.top-downsolutions.com, it will run you about $50 with shipping. I installed one in my C5, great quality and easy install. I advise the brass over the plastic unless you want to do it again.

Right way to Fix

my left headlight is making a grinding noise when I close them. Do I need a new motor or ?

Common problem-GM cut some corners here to save a penny. I decided to go with new complete motors, a little over $100.00 ea. at GM Direct. Thought if going to all the trouble it was better to replace than to fix gears. Easy to do from top, remove hood bolt,shroud,cover and the headlight assembly. You can then replace motor easy. put back, spray with CD2 . No problems for 4 years now.:buhbye:

well I replaced the left side and two days later the right went out, so im doing that thursday night...
